Thomas currently swims for CAMO swim club in partnership with PPO under coach Benoît Lebrun and was encouraged by his mother Dita to take up swimming at the age of three.

All of the sacrifices and hard work paid off when Thomas made the cut in the 50m Butterfly, touching the wall .11 of a second behind Canadian record holder Mike Mintenko.

21 years later, Dita and sister Tina still contribute to Thomas' success in the pool.  Earlier this year, Thomas decided to fully dedicate himself to his swimming and focus on one thing - making the National Team for the Worlds in Montreal.  He quit his night job at a local pub and put all his energy in the pool.  His family provided him with financial and moral support.

Thomas is not only talented in the pool.  After the 2004 Olympic Trials, he decided to learn more about auto mechanics and became an apprentice at Heinz Auto repair in Montreal, specialising in German automobiles.

Thomas is an all-around athlete.  Outside of swimming, he enjoys high energy intensity sports such as biking and hockey.
