Francis became the first Tanzanian since 1978 to win the Marathon at a Commonwealth Games when he won gold in Manchester in 2002.
On completing the Marathon at Manchester, Francis kept running past the finishing line, thinking he had another lap to run. When stopped by officials he took a lap of honour. |
