| Other | Irena is returning to international competition after three years out of the sport.
Of her adopted homeland Australia, Irena says: Everyone is given the opportunity to actually be themselves as well as being Australian at the same time. Not many countries accept that. Other countries expect you to become like them.
She began competing for the Australian national Synchronised team in the late 1990's - finishing 12th in the Team competition at the 1998 World Championships.
In 2005, she was a finalist at the German Open Championships, came sixth at the Swiss Open Championships, and was national champion in both the Solo and the Duet.
Irena trains at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and her club is Nunawading. Her hobbies include travelling and performing arts. |
