GLOBAL AWARENESS GROWING OF UNDER RECOGNISED SLEEP APNEA DISORDER

Posted by: | Posted on: May 30, 2024

In an exclusive interview with Metro Cities Media, Sleep Clinic Services confirmed the increasing global awareness of the sleep apnea disorder

Brisbane, Australia – May 21, 2024

Sleep Apnea is an underrecognized disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by frequent breathing interruptions during sleep. It occurs when the passage of the pharynx (upper airway) collapses or stops receiving signals from the brain, causing a brief pause in breathing.

The Sleep Clinic confirmed these breathing pauses last from a few seconds to as long as a few minutes and occur several times a night, disrupting the natural sleep cycle and preventing a person from achieving restful sleep.

According to the recently published report by Roots Analysis, the increasing prevalence of sleep apnea and insufficient treatment options is driving the market. They believe the global sleep apnea devices market is growing rapidly; it is estimated to be worth USD 13.5 billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach over USD 20 billion by 2035. It is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.61% during the forecast period from 2023 to 2035.

This clinical disease affects people of all ages and backgrounds, but is often undiagnosed or overlooked, affecting a person’s quality of life and well-being. Sleep apnea can be broadly classified into three types: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), central sleep apnea (CSA), and complex sleep apnea, also known as posterior sleep apnea.

Sleep Clinic Services is headquartered in Brisbane and offers home based diagnostic testing and treatment of sleep disordered breathing (SDB) conditions all around Australia. SDB ranges from mild and simple snoring through to life threatening conditions like obstructive sleep apnea, where the sufferer stops breathing repeatedly while asleep.

Mr Brett Chamberlain is the founder and CEO of Sleep Clinic Services. When interviewed by Eleven Media he said, “In this post Covid-19 period, there is a growing global awareness that quality of sleep is so important to one’s short and long-term wellbeing. The Roots Analysis report confirmed what we are noticing and increased enquiry levels from across Australia is growing significantly each year.”

One in five Australian adults suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Most know whether they snore, but 80% of those with OSA don’t know they have this serious medical condition.

Sleep Clinic Services uses multiple scientifically validated tests to quickly assess an individual’s Sleep Apnea Risk Profile.

If the risk is assessed as serious, it also assesses Medicare eligibility for formal diagnostic testing, and tailored recommendations on what options exist.

“Sleep Clinic Services assist people find the best diagnostic testing and treatment options for them. The services provide include sleep studies in the comfort, privacy and convenience of the clients home instead of a hospital bed, but can also help arrange hospital based studies or simple screening tests. Whatever the person needs.” said Mr Chamberlain.
